all is not loss.

We went to see the early matinee at 10:15 on Saturday morning and it was great since most of the tweens were still in bed, I know some think I am crazy! :) I was surprised at the mix of people in the theater to see the movie. Yeah, talking about the young men up in there, two hotties sat in front of us, woah! I was not that impressed with the movie, kind of figured that because I LOVED the booked so much. I think a lot of Edward and Bella developing relationship was not translated well to the movie. But I will say that the above cutie is what got me thru!!! WOOOOO, I love him as Edward and Emmett was hot too! I didn't like how low budget it looked, didn't flow really well and the sparkle scene, really?! yikes, totally cheesy. What was up with Jasper, didn't envision him as constipated, totally hated his facial expression! I know he isn't as strong as the others when it comes to resisiting humans but I didn't vibe with him as I did in the book. I loved in the book how he was more stoked and calming for Bella in her time of crisis. The best scene for me was the baseball game. I am betting hoping the next one will have a better budget and look like a movie instead of after school special. True Blood looks better and it is a television series!! Good thing is now my sister has the twilight bug and is loving every second of being on Team Edward, yes another person to talk twilight with! :) Good thing her big sister has them all! :) So all is not loss... What are your thoughts, yay or nay?
Three day work week, yay!!!! I will have a rak up on Wednesday, feeling like my paper is taking over again, so watch out for it! :)

  2. Edward pulled me thru too! I was surprised by the people who chose to see he movie as well, including the men at my showing. But i didn't go with any expectations- and was at least satisfied. I'm sure the next film will be wearing it;s big boy pants, and will be able to dazzle us in the future. ;)

  3. "What was up with Jasper, didn't envision him as constipated"

OMG. I was totally thinking the same thing. I wasn't impressed either. I thought some of the characters were cast well, but the budget did seem awfully low and they didn't really capture the essence of the book. I was sad it was as cheesy as it was, although I can't say I wasn't expecting that.

Lets hope the next one is better... and at least we still have our imaginations to fill in the crappy parts :)

  5. Sadly, i HAVE to disagree. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the movie! I thought that they did a fabulous job in casting and getting as much in as they could.

The reason Jasper looks like that is because he is the newest vampire and is still trying to resist smelling human.

Edward was of COURSE positively gorgeous if that even covers it and everything was near perfect.

I don't think it looked low budget, I think it looked... like a hometown fantasy which is what it is! I thought the look of it was part of its charm!

I'm sad that you thought it was cheesy looking because I sure can't think of a better way to make a person sparkle. lol

I LOVEDDDDDDD it and i can't WAIT for New Moon to come out!

  6. I agree with Elaine... Jasper is like that because he's the newest one. That's why Alice kept looking at him intently, to keep his focus.

I loved it... cheesiness and corny-ness and all! Edward was amazing, dang. I think it would have been hard to put the entire book into the movie, it was already two hours to begin with. But I think they got a lot of the details in there and this one will sort of pave the way for the other ones.

  9. i expected it to suck so i was pleasantly surprised! i will concur that the sparkle scene was a big let down, i mean seriously, did they just glue glitter to his face or what? haha!

  10. I really liked the movie and that being said, I loved the book a whole lot more. Jasper bothered me too. He was kinda creepy. Carlisle was creepy too! I loved the baseball scene too. And wasn't Laurent hot!!!!! I thought so anyway.

There was alot of things that were in the book that should have been in the movie!!! The whole finger pricking thing in bio, was definitely a must!!!

Can't wait to see what they do with New Moon, better hurry up and finish reading it...LOL

  18. I loved it! It looked more like an indie film. I do hae to say I thoght Japer's face was funny through the whole thing.

It was a small production company that did it and the director has done a lot of indie films...I'm sure that influenced it. I thought Rob was an AMAZING Edward, and I loved how the kids all acted goofy like real high school kids.

I'm sure they will have a bigger budget for the next one after seeing how well this one did! Look at the HP movies...the special effects, and the whole movies in general have gotten better with each!

  20. I just read ALL four books, the partial draft of Midnight Sun, and saw the movie in a two week period. My head is swimming with thoughts of Bella and Edward (most of all).

I LOVED the movie... yeah, I had some issues with it - even though I knew it was going to be difficult to put all of that into just two hours on screen. Jasper's face was strange - I think he could have played it differently.

Edward? OMGoodness... I keep thinking of him and swooning.

I really need something else to distract me from that story...

  21. I just found your blog through 'hopping'. Very nice! I took my daughter to see this movie too and I was much more satisfied with it than she was. She had read all the books and even though she wanted me to read them too before we went, I resisted just so I could enjoy the movie for what it was. Don't you find books always better? No matter what they do, they just cant cram a whole book into a movie:)

  22. Oh, I have to say that I actually loved the overall look of the movie. I liked that it wasnt the usual cookie cutter ritz and glitz that 'hollywood' usually pumps out. (wasnt sure if I could just edit the other post or not:-?)

  23. I really thought it was just me...I thought it looked SUPER low budget and I was really disturbed by some of the makeup (especially on the doctor).
I did get goosebumps, though, at the very last scene - so maybe there is hope for the sequel :)
