date one with our city....

We went into the city Sunday afternoon to check out the chinese new year festivities. We missed the parade but it was cool to see the dragons, Synai made a friend on the street that shared her pop rocks and to hear the firecrackers (didn't get to see them because of the amount of people around them) and watch the rest of the celebration from the fuddruckers streetside windows while we had a fun late lunch! It was fun outing and Saadiq had a yummy milkshake, a first for him there, he loves vanilla milkshakes! My quest for us is to venture out into the city once a month for these family dates, we are excited!

We had to hit up UO, where Saadiq had fun trying on sunglasses. They both LOVE sunglasses, guess they get from their mommy, ha! He fell in love with a green pair, that had an s on bridge, but they were broken :(. I can see a change in  him, where he is becoming more expressive with his clothes. I guess that happens we you are about to hit the double digits, he will be 10 this year, ack!!! I can't believe it! :)

starting to play around with my la2010 mini, completed this spread this morning. I loaded the paper halfway into my printer and my photo got all whacked out, just rolled with it and tore some of it off, the remnants from it is on an atc in the post below.

and the beat goes on.

yep, its Monday and suprisingly warm today which has me in a better mood than a normal winter Monday would + we can see the ground again, yay!! I am also itching for March, can't wait for spring, I think it is only fair since we had 50+ inches of snow this winter! :)  I had a great weekend, as always it moved way to quick! We pretty much have been glued to the Olympics, with a trip into the city yesterday.

I tackled some home projects, part of my goal list for 2010! I  added more photos to my polaroid wall in my scrap space. I love looking at all of them, even the "bad" ones. Next step to go pick up some paint swatches for an accent wall in my room and color change in our dining room.
You can see the before picture of the polaroid wall here.

Also managed to make a few atc's this morning, way out of practice with these so I just stuck to two color palettes.

beach butterfly

A layout I made for Couture Cardstock's booth for CHA. Both Synai and Saadiq love the beach just as much as I do! They already talking about going to the pool! I think we are all ready for warmer weather, lol.

its sassy.

happy friday y'all!! I've received a few questions about my nail polish and I aim to please so here is the polish i use and love! Essie is awesome, I purchase mine via amazon but I think some nordstrom's carry it as well, sadly mine does not. okay, so the color I am wearing while holding my cali mini is chinchilly, it is the polish in pic 2, first one on the left. It is a cement/grey color, I love it!  I am usually a dark color girl ( chanel blue satin and vendetta) but this one right here has me totally loving neutral!  These colors are from the fall 2009 collection. The green that I wore in December is mint candy apple, also a fun color!

Now the top photo are the colors from the spring 2010 collection, I love them but my favorite one is tart deco (second from right). It should be arriving at my doorstep anyday, will  post a pic when I paint my nails! I think it is the perfect color to jump start spring with! :)

Have a lovely weekend planned, going to see shuttter island tomorrow and going into the city on sunday to celebrate the chinese new year in chinatown!

also set up a formspring.me account so if you have any question at anytime ask away! :)

thawing out,well sort of....

Hello friends, hope you had a great weekend! We are finally starting to thaw out just a little here. I am not sure when we will see our lawn again or when all this snow is going to melt. I snapped this photo from my deck yesterday. They are so pretty but I can't help to think of that episode of Grey's last season when Christina got impaled with the icicle, uhmmm yeah....knocked them down this morning!

thawing out....

cali mini

Last month Jamaica was sweet enough to make these little minikits for jen and me to document our trip while in cali. We didn't get to scrap but we all collected stuff from our trip to include in a moleskin. I started creating in mine this morning, this is the cover. I did a random stitching to symbolize my cross country adventure. :) One of my favorites products ever are ripsheets by studio calico, sprinkling pieces of them throughout this mini along with woodgrain and kraft...well that is the plan.

I will have more pages to share and a new dare tomorrow! :)

what's not to love, its friday!!

happy friday y'all! I am so happy the weekend is here even though we had a little staycation indoors courtesy of snowmageddon 2010! I didn't scrap at all but happy to say my laundry is done and house is clean....yay!!! We are getting out of dodge tonight and heading south to nana's for the holiday weekend where a lot less snow is on the ground. We are expected to get more snow on Monday, hopefully we won't get caught up in it; but for our sanity we need to get out of our house, lol.

I finally did last week's dare: first kiss, crush or boyfriend. It was so long ago, the details were a little fuzzy but my first crush/"boyfriend" was in 1st/2nd grade. He was a cutie and we used to wirte little notes all the time until he realized girls were yucky again, lol.  I painted and misted until my heart was content. :)

dare 157....first crush

Another item on my craft to do list was to create my next entry in my book of list mini. For this list page Jamaica's prompt centered around I don't get....
I promise I am not a hater but I do not make a big fuss over valentine's day. I truly believe in showing and telling the people in my life how much I love them everyday not just for one day in Feb. It is romantic and it is easy to get caught up in the frenzy of it all.  But for me I choose love everyday and explained this message to Saadiq and Synai yesterday. I was happy they understood it even at the age they are now.
book of list...don't get

But if this is your favorite holiday I hope you have a truly special one with the one you love or if you are solo, do something fun...remember it and enjoy it!
happy weekend!

one for the history records.

our current reality...

our current reality but even with all of the snow that has fallen these last five days we are blessed.
blessed to not have lost electric, so many have no power in the metro area
blessed to have a job that follows the state/federal lead in closing offices
blessed to be able to buy more food to get thru another storm
blessed to be in good health to be able to shovel out our property and a neighbor who is out on the state roads plowing the roads for others
blessed to have a sister to help me shovel, keep me laughing and for children who do not get stir crazy. :)
blessed to see so much snow in my lifetime, over 56.9 records this winter
just feeling blessed...

didn't wake up feeling like p.diddy....

I love the song tik tok by Ke$ha! It always puts me in a better commuting mood while driving to work.  Confession, I have a bad habit of falling asleep on the couch and and before going to bed I almost always end up at my desk. I had a few projects that needed to be done before and after cha. Hopefully, I will have the green light to share these projects soon!

This is an old layout that I haven't posted before, it was part of my MMM entry. It is one of my favorites.
chicago

I love this post from Tara Whitney, taking one photo a month with your entire family. I didn't do such a good job of this in 09 and one my goals for the year is to take more pics of us all with me in the photo. I think it will be awesome to look thru them all at the end of 2010.
off to fill up on some juice caffiene!

p.s.
thoughts on lost? I LOVED the second half, omg sayid! I can't wait for the rest of the season, *note to abc, less commericals next time, ok?! :)

february, lets roll!

Happy Monday, although it doesn't feel like a monday to me! I am thinking because of the two hour delay the children had for school may have something to do with it! I love February because:
1. It is a short month
2. One month closer to spring
3. Black History Month
4. Awesome fundraisers at work...polar plunge

cocoa daisy's feb kit went live last night, memphis belle! cool balanced mix of colors, not too valentine-ish. :) here are a few layouts I made with the kit, full gallery can be seen here.

so good
