life's lessons

happy friday!
my goals for nsd tomorrow are to finish my cali mini (latest pic of complete page in mini, sorry for the less than stella photo of it thanks iphone-well it was the user/sorry iphone), make a few layouts, finish up last week's dare and to enjoy the gorgeous weather we are suppose to have this weekend. do you have any plans for nsd, please share...

Tricia at Cocoa Daisy is hosting a fundraiser for Linda Burnasakorn aka lbofglue. I've always love Linda sense of humor, love for her family and creativity. I feel in love with her pages in the dares book and then her blog because she has such a great wit! I was sadden last year when I heard that she had been hospitalized and fighting for her life. I couldn't understand how this young mom of two be in ICU and in a coma within a blink of an eye, she had just had her second child. Linda has come a long way but now without complications such as pneumonia, collapsed lungs, multiple infections, internal bleeding, organs on the verge of shutting down, blood clots and so much more. But because of all the things she had to overcome and endure the doctors had to amputate both of her feet and all of her fingers. I believe in Linda and her family that she will become stronger each day but there are other things in life which make her recovery so much more stressful like hospital bills. If you make a $10 donation towards the fundraiser you will have a chance to win a trip to Cocoa Daisy Destinations event in Greece with Ali Edwards, Karen Russell and Jenni Bowlin worth $3000 or other great prizes donated by Kenner Road, Scarlet Lime,Studio Calico, Ali Edwards and many more!

However every donation helps even if it is $1.00, eta: just made my donation too! Find out more about Linda and the fundraiser here.

Linda's story is just proof that in the blink of an eye life can change. It is important to cherish your life, family and the moments you have with them always. Thank you to all who read this....
have a great weekend,xo

date with our city: fro yo

our weekend was delightful, much of it spent outside and walking around the city sampling some of the city's best frozen yogurt. It was tricky since the city is in shut down mode for the nuclear summit mixed with the cherry blossom festivities and caps game, traffic was a beast but we made it work. our first stop on saturday: frogen fruz: very fresh ingredients, very light and refreshing.

second stop on sunday: fro yo, my favorite with a lot of flavors to choose from with unlimited toppings, self serve and they weigh by the ounce so you get more bang for your buck! As you can see our favorite topping is captain crunch and strawberries yum! :)
off to see saadiq compete in a mesa competition, so excited!
have a great week!

spring and summer meals

as the days are getting longer and warmer, my idea of fun is being outside not in front of a stove for long periods of time on the weekends. in the spring/summer my comfort foods are of the grill variety, salads or pasta dishes. as I searched for a variety of recipes, these are some of my favorites I came across. cross your fingers, I will try to post each recipe as I make them to see how they faired in my househould where 2/4 is a picky eater!

keeping it one hundred

before:

after:

I tweeted a sneak of my closet reorganize last week when I was done. I had a few questions on how I did it and such but for me it was easy as this:if I hadn't worn it in a year I purged it!! (included shoes, clothes and boxes/hangers)which was taken to my local salvation army thrift store and recylcing center respectively.

I didn't have anything installed or redone, worked with the closet system that I currently have and was determined not to buy anything new. I couldn't let go of the cute boxes that my tory's came in so I used them as an organizing tool to store my hats and candles. I also used some box tops to place my shoes on so they can be displayed and seen easily. If everything has a home it is all good. I put all of my bulky scarves in a crate box under my portable clothes rack, as well as my extra throw pillows for when I take them off the bed.

For me it was easiest to organize by color. I also keep all of my purses in their dust bags, which made it really easy to store too.

The real challenge is to keep it looking like this...lol. I am guilty of coming home and just dropping throwing my clothes into the closet, currently working on that bad habit. But for real is my home squeaky clean no, is is lived in yes and that is just the way i like it. :)

our easter weekend

i hope you had a great holiday weekend, we spent lots of time outside enjoying our gorgeous spring/summer weather!

I was so happy to see my two little dumplin's,they had a blast with their nana. She spoils them and they love it as does she! We went out thrifting on Saturday, so much fun but didn't see anything that I was just dying to have but glad to finally have some local shops to keep an eye out for things. We went to church yesterday and my mom prepared a wonderful meal with all of our favorites!

I love the south and the mat in the first photo sums up home perfectly, no matter how long I stay away or how frequently I visit, it is still home and everyone is always happy to see you. Sometimes that is loss in bigger cities where everyone is in a rush, sometimes always rude and a smile is few in between.

so we are back into the thick of it today, school and work...patiently awaiting summer vacation in june to arizona!
