singing in the rain reveal
I can not believe this is the last week of MARCH! I must admit I am looking forward to April and more seasonable weather. It is starting to feel like winter again here instead of spring! We awoke to some snow on Sunday and a chance of it again tonight, oy!! I am hoping to catch some rays with a quick trip to mommy's aka Nana's house this weekend! I am also ready to wear sandals, tanks and lighter layers everyday! :)
onto some current love:loving glitter nail polish, plastic rings , coral blushes and luna chocolate dipped coconut bars.
song: britney spears- til the end of the world
show: celebrity apprentice
with the end of the month comes reveal time for Studio Calico as well and below are my designs for Singing in the Rain gallery. I picked up Moses Supposes and Tap Dance add-ons but they are sold out BUT Happy Refrain is still available ( I love the Pink Paislee Chalkboard stickers)!! Some new shop favorites:American Crafts Thickers-brown-sugar (love this front),pewter zing and white gel pen.
I try to make layouts showcasing each kit but these kit worked so well together so a few were made with all three, With SC family is one of them, it is a mesh of the main, moses supposes and tap dance. I had so much fun with SC at Winter CHA, loved getting to know the team more! :)

Cool Science Project is my favorite layout of the month, I loved documenting the process and Saadiq's proud little face, sigh. I used Moses Supposes to created this one embossed with three different zing colors and of course a bit of mist. I love the pattern paper varietyand stamp in this add-on so much!

Well Loved was made with Tap Dances and the main kit, singing in the rain. I know it's shocking but I used floral pattern paper! :) I thought it suited the girlie nature of this layout.

My great month was made with Tap Dance, love doing month in review layouts. It is fun to see all that was or wasn't accomplished in a month.

Hope you are enjoying your day and thank you for letting me be a portion of yours!

pieces of a monday
Yesterday was my Saturday since I worked over the weekend. I love it when a week starts off relaxed, it began with a thunderstorm and ended with one as well! Our spring has started with a bang I guess, lol.

my other love makeup...one of my go to palettes, my favorite ones are the ones with the holes or soon to be holes in them. :)

been carrying a clutch for over a month now, decided to empty the goods into another one and take a photo of it! :) They are super easy and instant chic to any ensemble. :)

my warby parker glasses arrived, so me and synai had an instant photo shoot (totally OOF but I love it regardless) while her brother played outside with his friends.

flipped thru the awesome pages of the 2011 spring edition of somerset memories magazine, my good stuff "mini" article is pubbed in detail w/ how to make your own from start to finish! :)

she likes to sparkle as well, love her so very very much!!

finally beginning to work on my first workshop of 2011, here is a small peek. It will focus making a clear minibook with paint, embossing and mist of course! :) I will have more information post really soon!
finally really creative today, lets hope this lasts until tonight! xo

moments v.3

and so it begins, synai wearing my things, granted it's only socks but she loves playing dress up in my closet. She wore my socks to school the other day and she was so excited, had to snap a picture because I know today socks tomorrow shoes, jewelry, purses... oh lord :)
now I know how my mom felt when I used to wear her clothes to school and take purses full of nail polish to school ( i guess painting my nails during my nap time seemed like a plausible option, snickers....)

singing in the rain sneaks
hi guys, have a few sneaks to share today for the April Studio Calico kits. I can't believe we are only a few weeks from April already! Today totally feels like a spring day mixed with the extra daylight= extra happy me!! now on to the sneaks! I purchased two add-ons this month: Moses Supposes(add-on 3) and Tap Dance (add-on 4), I love each one of the in different ways but both work with the main kit smashingly!
I finished this layout last night and it was created mainly with the main kit, singing in the rain and Tap Dance. I LOVE the alphas in the main kit, both seen in sneak below. :) I added of course some misting and a little punching action! :)

Tap Dance sneak (add-on 4), love the crate paper embellishments, pattern paper in this kit as well as the SC exclusive stamp, this one is a must if you love background stamps!

Moses Suppose sneak (add-on 3), i adore this layout of Saadiq, you know the one layout that just clicked together quickly, this was the one for me this month. PLUS, do you see the cute flags, OMG?! I embossed them with some zing, charcoal and white!

Tootles, off to lunch and enjoy a bit of the nice weather.

upgrade
monday again but with that being said can't believe that only two more are left in the month!!! seriously, where is this year going y'all?!! so last month I had a mini update to my kitchen done and hired painters to paint my dining room, kitchen and kitchen cabinets. I had painted the kitchen and dining room red seven years ago and decided it was way over due for a change. My style has changed and I wanted to update our most lived in spaces to reflect that and not cost a fortune either. I am in love with the results but have two more upgrades (countertops) and new fridge that I will tackle next year.
I had them match the color of my living room walls, which is Ralph Lauren(dovecoat) paint, which they no longer make but luckily I had an old can and my tweeps calmed me when I was panicking about the color. I love the clean and crisp look of having one color throughout the three spaces. The black (color-sherwin willams: domino) on the cabinets with the stainless steel appliances make it pop that much more!
before:

after:

I really dislike clutter (but it is a constant battle) so when I saw this cute black storage bin at Target, I knew exactly where to put it. Misc. chips, paper towels and paper lunch bags are in here, organized and unseen!

updated the hardware on the cabinets with nickel pulls from home depot. I love the ergonomic feel of them and how it continues the stainless steel appeal. The cabinets were painted with an enamel gloss and the walls with a satin finish (best for kids).

When I started brainstorming on what I wanted to actually get done, possibly removing the brick but quickly revising that plan once I found out the work/ how useless my kitchen would be for a few months, budget, time and dreams vs needs. I must say I am very happy with the updates made and LOVE the brick with the current color scheme so much more than with the red walls. So that's my mini update around my casa, thanks for taking a peek and hoping you are having a great start to your week!

winning

because I dislike posting without pictures and i really need to finish posting my december daily, here is another page. sorry about the blurry photo taken with my iphone while rushing out of the door this morning. i am currently fixated with embossing (purchased charcoal this month, can't wait to try it out with April's SC kit), the friday image is embossed on top of the schoolhouse misted stars. scene from our christmas eve, synai playing her and my mom's coca cola santa claus by the x-mas tree.
thank you all for weighing in on my new glasses, it was so much fun reading your opinions! I purchased the crosby style because they are fun, whimsical, a change for me and I love the oversized style! The winner of the box of goodies is:
comment #5(please email me your info, congrats!!)
GLP said...I really like choice C, I think they look great! but A are also adorable! I don't think you can go wrong with either choice! :)

specs...

I finally got my box of warby parker home try on glasses, I love a. (crosby) and c. (pierce) but love the bigger frame of the crosby style more. I am digging the geek chic style of the crosby. I didn't like the roosevelt (b) style on me. Pierce makes me look like a librarian, not knocking librarians but I have a really round face and these are too skinny. I haven't purchase new frames in years so this makes me so excited! What do you think? I am giving away a FULL priority box of scrap goodies to one commenter! :) yaaaay, can't wait to read your votes! I will post a winner on Thursday 3/10.

off duty
the weekend came and went, this month each weekend has moved faster than the next since I worked special events for my j-o-b. This weekend was a mix of warmth and rain but we had a good one just the same, i love spending time with my family.

just as I tweeted I made this pizza for breakfast and it was a success. I thought s2 would be wary of it but they sang much praise of how delicious it was, two thumbs up!

current wrist action mixed with my new favorite color combination.

enjoying one our weekend walks, she will pose at a drop of a hat.

cleaned up my creative area a bit and added thisam-bam gorilla eraser to my decor. I don't think I will ever use it. :)

moment captured with my iphone, saadiq was missing synai while she was at a friend's house. So I was more than happy to give him lots of hugs!

mission get more leopard in 2011 in full effect and very successful so far I may add! I love this print and polka dots too!

getting back into taking self portraits again, been really slack in that dept. lately. Plus I needed a new new profile picture! hope you are having a good start to the week. Already looking forward to more day light next weekend with daylight saving time. off to look at some thinkless tv, currently watching: RuPaul's Dragrace, bethenny ever after and all about aubrey! Promise paper posts coming this week!! :)

baby steps

If you have read my blog for a while you know every year I try to take one more step towards being more green. This year it is switching over to using natural bio-friendly cleaning products.
I thought it was time to make a change with the products I use since I clean almost everyday in some capacity.
I am in love with the Mrs. Meyers brand and what is even better they WORK! The packaging is made from recyclable materials and smells really good too ( a + in the winner winner category for me, I like to be able to smell a clean house, right?! RIGHT). This is what I am currently using: window spray (geranium), dish soap (lavender) and countertop spray (lemon verbena), the geranium is my favorite scent followed by lavender. I've picked these up at a variety of places, Target, Wegman's and even Home Goods but in the future I think I will order straight from their site because the germanium is hard to find in my area without having to drive all over the place.
three weeks to spring, yay!!!

off duty

scenes from my weekend, worked on Saturday and finally checked out the georgetown flea market on Sunday, which wasn't what I expected but did find some furs that i loved (the lepoard one was singing " take me home tonight!!" I love trekking around DC with my sister... just me, her taking in the city and all of it's antics. We wrapped up the night watching the Oscars with s2. The dresses were pretty but lacked that WOW factor from previous years. I thought it was funny how the hosts were chosen to bring in a younger demographic but it was the elder actors (Kurt Douglas and Billy Crystal) who stole the show! welcoming march and all it has to bring: longer days, hopefully warmer weather, flip flop wearing and lots of outdoor time!
